Evolve Supports New Municipal Energy Authority

In anticipation of electric rate caps being removed and the emerging opportunities to support renewable and energy efficiency programs the Philadelphia City Council has approved legislation establishing a new Municipal Energy Authority.   Rob Stuart served as an expert witness in support of the legislation, which is sponsored by Councilman Darrell Clarke, and appeared beside Evolve's client, Bob Kearns of Municipal Energy Managers (MEM). Stuart and Kearns testified that with this Authority in place, the City could negotiate better energy rates and provide new financing for renewable power and energy efficiency programs.  In the coming months Evolve will be working with MEM and Anaconda Industries to help Philadelphia reduce its electric bill by switching to LED Street lights.

Bikecabs Roll Back onto the Streets of Philadelphia

Just in time for Memorial Day Weekend, the new Evolve inspired Philly Bikecab Alliance (PBA) announced that Bikecabs will be licensed to operate on the streets of Philadelphia with several press events.  At a press conference attended by Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown, the sponsor of Bikecab authorizing legislation,  Tom and Ben Dambman of Chariots of Philly and Ronn Ash of Velo-Park credited Evolve President, Rob Stuart,  for representing Bikecabs as the key lobbyist and advocate throughout  an 18 month City Council process.  Evolve worked with Velo-Park and Chariots of Philly to develop the PBA concept, and now serves as the PBA's liaison to the media, City Council and the City Streets Department.

Vanessa Brown Wins 2010 Election

vanessabrownRunning for re-election against two candidates with strong political and significant financial backing, Community Activist Vanessa Lowery Brown surprised political pundits by winning  the May 18th Primary Election in PA's 190th Legislative District in West & North Philadelphia.  A long time Evolve friend and client, State Representative Brown won with 47.13% of votes.

Called a "breath of fresh air" by Mayor Michael Nutter, Representative Lowery Brown has worked hard to expand community services within the district, prioritize community development, and focus on education, especially parental involvement in education and child rearing.  Evolve is now working with Representative Brown and the Academy of Natural Sciences in forming a new Urban Sustainability Caucus that she will chair.

Although the race is over and Vanessa won the election, her opponents are not giving up. Please help Vanessa fight everyday for her district by making a donation here.
