Case Study: Fraternal Order of Transit Police

Deliverables:

Public Relations

SEPTA's Transit Police aren't getting a fair shake. That's the challenge as presented to Anthony Ingargiola, EvolveStrategies Vice President, who was called to serve as the spokesperson for the 198 member Fraternal Order of Transit Police. At issue are compensation and benefits discrepancies between other area law enforcement officers and those who work for Philadelphia's Transit agency, SEPTA.

Solution

The FOTP and the SEPTA Transit Police are largely unknown-especially for the important role they play in protecting transit riding public, and the public in general. As a result, SEPTA has been able to tell both sides of the story in the ongoing labor dispute. EvolveStrategies determined that a public outreach and earned media strategy was necessary in order to engender sympathy and ultimately to pressure SEPTA Management to understand their issues and factor them into negotiations.

Results

EvolveStrategies executed a media campaign to tell the FOTP's side story and to make their case in the ongoing labor dispute. As a result, the FOTP is better positioned to make their case before state Mediators and before the court of public opinion. The effort resulted in the following News Coverage:
